Iconic Québec businesses in the field of creative digital production

Québec boasts more than 300 innovative companies that are pushing the boundaries of digital experiences. Here are five that stand out thanks to their projects:
This studio is behind unforgettable experiences such as Foresta Lumina in Coaticook, illuminating Jacques-Cartier Bridge, a projection on Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia, and Madonna’s 2012 Super Bowl show. More recently, the studio launched Aura Invalides in Paris, thereby adding to an international portfolio of immersive experiences in airports, museums, forests, and heritage sites, often in collaboration with artists such as Billie Eilish.

Normal Studio converts urban spaces into powerful immersive experiences. Using multisensory and interactive installations, 360° projections and architectural interventions, its artists conjure wonder in people’s everyday lives and craft shared moments of magic. For example, the interactive video projection Au bord du lac tranquille (By the quiet lake) on the ice rink in Montréal’s entertainment district.

In 2014, the studio created the first-ever virtual reality film: Strangers with Patrick Watson. Since then, the studio has been pushing the boundaries of the medium by combining interactivity and immersive storytelling, as in the Space Explorers exhibition. Its L’INFINI exhibition was designed in collaboration with Studio Phi.

A pioneer in the design of interactive experiences in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality, Dpt. has taken part in innovative projects such as À plein volume : Basquiat et la musique at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts, the first major exhibition to explore the importance of music in Jean-Michel Basquiat’s work in a multidisciplinary way. The interactive spatial tale Oto’s Planet has also won numerous international awards.

This studio is known for its music videos and projects for stars such as Elton John. One of its most notable achievements was Pop !, an interactive installation of inflatable puppets that react to voices, installed in the Montréal’s Entertainment District. The studio also designs immersive experiences in public places such as airports and shopping centres.
