The winners of the 2025 holiday season contest have been announced

SYNTHÈSE is pleased to announce the winner and finalists of the 2025 Contest - Illustrate a 2D or 3D holiday card, open to digital creation students in Quebec. The contest, which ran from October 21 to November 30, 2025, challenged participants to illustrate a card in 2D or 3D animation with a holiday theme, using SYNTHÈSE's colors (purple to orange).

The grand prize winner: Émilie Fontaine, UQAM

A student at the University of Quebec in Montreal pursuing a bachelor's degree in communications (interactive media), Émilie won over our team with her animated card created using Photoshop and After Effects, illustrating the spirit of community and sharing at the heart of the holiday season. The dancing tree, the moving characters, the small televisions, and even the slanted lines subtly reminiscent of the SYNTHÈSE logo.

For the occasion, Émilie shared her journey, her artistic approach, and the inspirations behind her winning work:

Q: Tell us about your background. Where does your passion for digital art come from?

"My passion for art began with drawing. I have always loved bringing worlds and characters from my imagination to life. I taught myself a lot, but I realized that I needed expert guidance to develop further. What fascinates me so much about digital art is that I never notice the time passing. It's a field that offers so many possibilities and varied disciplines that it's perfect for me." (Translation).

After studying multimedia integration techniques at Cégep Montmorency, Émilie is now continuing her education at UQAM, where she is working on numerous ambitious projects.

Q: Tell us about your projects and your area of expertise.

“I am very invested in my final year project, SYNAPSE, an interactive installation. I am working on the visuals with TouchDesigner and MadMapper. At the same time, on the personal projects side, I always have several things on the go. I am working on a series of digital illustrations and developing an idea for a short animation set to music.” (Translation).

Her interests focus on motion design, illustration, graphic design, and video editing. Émilie describes her style as a blend of traditional art and digital tools, where organic textures combine with digital processes to create a unique aesthetic.

Q: Finally, what would be your dream job?

“My dream job would be to work for a company specializing in motion design or video editing, because those are the areas where I feel I can add the most value. I would love to be involved in lots of different creative projects, always with the opportunity to add my own personal touch, even though I'm perfectly capable of working within constraints.” (Translation).
