The multifaceted art of recounting a vivid and impactful immersive experience

In this three-hour virtual course, sound and media artist Vincent Brault invites you to explore the major transformations in traditional, linear storytelling, leading to new narrative approaches linked to the immersive experience.

Elastic, concentric, constellation-based storytelling... Discover these new narrative structures that place the audience at the center of the work, while retracing the characteristic notions of immersive art, its practices, and its devices. All presented with a healthy dose of dynamism, in images and videos based on concrete examples.

Beyond defining a narrative and writing strategy linked to the immersive and interactive experience, you will have the opportunity to better understand the mechanisms of user-centered experience design and the methods for conceptualizing and creating an immersive experience, from ideation to prototyping.

An artist at the crossroads of artistic, sensory, and technological practices

Sound and media artist Vincent Brault explores the synesthetic relationship between sound and imagery through new technologies. After graduating with degrees in visual arts and music performance, he earned a bachelor's degree in electroacoustics from Concordia University before pursuing a DESS in arts, creation, and technologies at the University of Montreal in 2012.

In 2014, he continued his studies and completed a master's degree in Communication, with a concentration in Research-Creation in Experimental Media at UQAM, followed by another master's degree in Arts, Creation and Technologies at the University of Montreal.

His interest in immersive art led him to the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT), where he now works as the immersive video manager for the dome. This exciting job allows him to use his expertise to provide technical support to artists in residence, give training, and carry out various immersive, interactive, and innovative projects.
