Five new programming and design training opportunities on EXPERTS
The EXPERTS platform is further expanding its range of continuing education courses, with five new courses this autumn focusing on programming and design.
From TouchDesigner and augmented reality to systematic video-game design and spatial computing, participants will learn from four experts to enhance their skills, in collaboration with École NAD-UQAC and UQAT.
The EXPERTS online course platform, launched by SYNTHÈSE in 2020, already includes some fifty courses in 2D-3D creation, management, design, and programming. These course, which are tailor-made to meet evolving industry needs, are designed for professionals and recent graduates working in video games, visual effects, animation, and digital experiences in Québec.
Five new courses for you to discover
1. Python & TouchDesigner
-
with Vincent Brault, in conjunction with École NAD-UQAC
This course is truly a deep dive into the world of TouchDesigner. With its widely acknowledged powerful and intuitive capabilities, TouchDesigner is a playground for artists seeking to create generative, interactive, and performative visuals using nodal visual programming.
Going beyond the basics, SAT campus trainer Vincent Brault guides you toward more advanced levels by teaching you how to use the OpenGL Shading Language (GLSL). This programming language enables you to use the full power of GPUs to synthesize or modify dynamic geometries and images.
2. Build your data warehouse and process your video games’ analytical data (Part 1)
-
with Louis-Marius Gendreau, in conjunction with UQAT
Optimize your game, enhance playability, boost player loyalty, control your advertising investment return, and much more, thanks to a data warehouse that you can build quickly and cost-effectively!
Learn how to put together a data warehouse that can process your video game’s analytical data with Louis-Marius Gendreau, founder of App Marketing Data. The first part of this course – devoted to theory – enables you to understand the key concepts for planning and structuring your data warehouse and explore the best tools and functions for building and developing it, using demos and practical applications. Stay tuned for the second part, focusing on practical issues, coming very soon!
3. Spatial computing and augmented reality (design and programming)
- with Bob-Antoine Ménélas, in conjunction with École NAD-UQAC
In this new course, Bob-Antoine Ménélas invites you to explore the design and development of augmented reality applications using spatial computing. From immersive training to an augmented-reality treasure hunt and solar windows, our expert portrays a world of possibilities for society in various areas, including education, health, and entertainment, while also dealing with technological and environmental challenges and issues.
Our expert, who is a professor of computer science at UQAC, shares his expertise with you by presenting the principles for successfully embedding an environment in an augmented reality application. This course also introduces you to programming with ARCore, Google’s Geospatial Creator.
4. OpenGL ES on Android and augmented reality applications
- with Bob-Antoine Ménélas, in conjunction with École NAD-UQAC
This comprehensive course is designed to help you master the programming of mobile graphics applications using the powerful OpenGL ES library and enables you to design augmented reality applications.
Guided by Professor Bob-Antoine Ménélas’s expertise, you get to explore augmented reality applications, while learning how to create stunning visuals for games and apps.
5. Advanced system design and related financial structures for video games
- with Bruno Bouchard, in conjunction with École NAD-UQAC
Explore advanced system-design techniques with a financial focus for video games from a rational design standpoint with Bruno Bouchard, a professor and researcher in computer science at UQAC. This course covers the design of the game’s financial system (the cycle and management of resources such as money, artefacts, equipment, and so on) and monetization (the mechanics built into the gameplay to generate revenue).
Our expert tells you all about designing game mechanics in a systemic way, using complex systems engineering as a springboard.
In this industry, where few training programs and resources exist, specialists in the financial design of video games are in great demand. This exclusive course provides you with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to acquire these precious skills.
